Breaking the habit of negative thinking

YOU ARE SELF-AWARE. You read books and watch YouTube videos that help you figure out how to move forward in a positive and powerful way. Like all of us, you’ve had disappointments in career, relationships, and romance, but you know some habits and tools can really make a difference. Others come to you for advice. You might even be a mentor for them. The struggle is walking the talk you tell others—then letting go of the guilt and disappointment you have in yourself.

You know you are your greatest asset and worst enemy. You want better relationships. You want to make a difference in a career that’s not just about paying the bills. You want to trust and have the courage to follow your intuition. You know that if you’re not moving forward in a positive way, there is a chance you’ll slip into boredom or even depression. You want to be the best version of yourself. You seem to be a role model for others, but have a difficult time finding one for yourself. You have a secret hope for greatness or at least a hope for more happiness than loneliness.

This is your opportunity to stop looking for answers outside and find them inside yourself. You can be all the things you want. You need to develop a daily set of consistent habits that strengthen your self-awareness and inner knowing by doing some form of meditation, such as sitting, yoga, jogging, writing, and more. No matter what you choose to do, you can exact change by breaking the addictive habit of counterproductive thoughts and behavior. You need to develop a process for your own transformation. You need to develop a new you.

After several weeks of this new daily routine, you feel more confident, with a clearer direction. You don’t worry as much and when you do, you have a process to replace that worry with gratitude. You make a larger contribution to others in meaningful ways. Co-workers see a new and more powerful leader emerge. Some of the friends who just wanted someone to complain to have fallen away and new friends have shown up—people who want two-way, collaborative, friendships. You trust your intuition more and as a result, make important life decisions that yield positive results.
